Daily News Dashboard
Learn how to turn a single topic into a professional, ready-to-paste research prompt in about a minute — then send it to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Copilot or Gemini for a structured daily briefing. This guide walks you through every button, option and shortcut, step by step.
Welcome — What Is the Daily News Dashboard?
The Daily News Dashboard is a small, friendly tool with one big job: turning a topic you care about into a professional research prompt you can paste into any AI assistant. Instead of staring at an empty chat box wondering what to type, you pick a subject — Politics, Economy, AI & Technology, Stock Investment or Middle East — and the dashboard writes the briefing request for you. If your interest is narrower, like Climate Policy or Semiconductor Supply Chain, the User Define option lets you type any topic in your own words.
The prompt it produces is not a random question. It is a structured request written the way a senior researcher would brief an analyst: it assigns your AI an expert role, sets a time frame, asks for key developments and key players, demands impact analysis, weighs risks and opportunities, insists on reliable sources, and finishes with open questions worth watching. Because the briefing arrives in this organized shape, the answers you get back are noticeably richer and easier to skim than a casual "what happened today?"
Everything runs inside your browser. There is no account to create, nothing to install, and no server that stores your prompts — generation, editing, copying and downloading all happen locally on your device. That also means you can use it freely at work or on public Wi-Fi without worrying about where your data goes.
The dashboard itself does not write the news briefing — your AI does. The dashboard's craft is asking the right questions, in the right structure, so your AI answers like a seasoned researcher.
Quick Start — Your First Briefing in 60 Seconds
You do not need to read anything else in this guide to get value right now. These six steps take you from an empty page to a finished prompt in about a minute. The whole screen looks like this when you start: preset packs along the top, your topic and options on the left, and space for the generated prompt on the right.
Everything is on one page — no menus to hunt through. The layout flows top to bottom: presets, then topic, then options, then your prompt.
Open the Select Topic dropdown and choose Politics, Economy, AI & Technology, Stock Investment or Middle East. Want something else? Pick User Define and type up to 80 characters of your own.
The defaults are sensible — last 48 hours, Standard depth, Balanced perspective, Structured Report, English. Change anything you like, or skip this entirely on your first run.
Click the pink Generate Research Prompt button, or simply press Ctrl/⌘ + Enter anywhere on the page. A soft shimmer plays for about a second while your prompt is composed.
Your prompt appears with colourful Markdown highlighting — headings, bullets and bold key phrases are easy to scan. Switch to the Edit tab if you want to tweak the wording yourself.
Press the big Copy button, open your favourite AI, paste, and send. A "Copied to clipboard" toast confirms every copy. Prefer a file? Use Export to download it as .md or .txt.
In a hurry? Skip steps 2–4 and tap a Daily Preset Pack card instead, such as Morning Politics Brief. It configures the topic, time window, depth and format for you, then generates the prompt instantly.
Choosing Your Topic
The topic you pick is the single biggest influence on the prompt you get. Each of the five ready-made options comes with its own expert persona — for example, choosing Stock Investment tells your AI to act as a senior equity research analyst, while Middle East summons a regional affairs specialist who understands energy geopolitics and regional security. The dashboard quietly rewrites the role, the suggested sources and the impact analysis to match the subject you selected.
When you choose User Define, a text field appears just below the dropdown with a live counter showing how many of the 80 allowed characters you have used. Shorter, sharper topics work best: "Semiconductor Supply Chain" gives your AI a much clearer target than a long sentence. The topic field is deliberately required — if you click Generate with it empty, a friendly reminder appears and the cursor jumps straight to the input so you cannot accidentally generate a hollow prompt.
The character limit exists to keep prompts focused. If your interest is broad, try splitting it: run one briefing on "Climate Policy" today and another on "Carbon Markets" tomorrow — you will get deeper coverage than one giant combined request.
Fine-Tuning Your Briefing
Between the topic picker and the Generate button sits the fine-tuning panel — seven small controls that shape the tone, length and angle of your briefing. You can ignore them completely and still get a good result from the defaults, but learning what they do is the difference between a generic news summary and a briefing tailored exactly to how you like to read.
| Control | What it does | When to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Time Horizon | Sets how fresh the news should be: last 24 hours, last 48 hours, past 7 days, past 30 days, or a custom window such as "since the last OPEC meeting". | Daily routine — 24h/48h. Weekly review — 7 days. Covering an ongoing event — Custom window. |
| Depth Level | Quick Brief caps the answer near 350 words; Standard runs 600–900 words; Deep Dive asks for 1,200–1,800 words with an executive summary and a watch list. | Morning skim — Quick Brief. Lunchtime catch-up — Standard. Weekend analysis — Deep Dive. |
| Geographic Focus | Narrows coverage to Global, United States, Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa or Latin America — or any country and region you type. | Use Custom for precision, e.g. "Germany" or "the Gulf states". |
| Perspective | Steers the lens: Balanced gives fair weight to all sides; Bullish and Bearish tilt toward upside or downside; Critical probes claims and incentives; Optimistic highlights progress without hype. | Keep Balanced for facts. Switch to Critical when a story feels too polished. |
| Output Format | Structured Report (numbered sections), Bullet Briefing (tight bullets), Executive Summary (5-bullet TL;DR under 500 words) or Q&A (sharp questions with answers). | Busy readers love Executive Summary; researchers prefer Structured Report. |
| Include Sources | When on, the prompt demands named, reliable sources for every major claim and orders the AI never to hallucinate — it must say so when information is uncertain. | Keep it on for anything you might quote or act on. Switch off only for casual brainstorming. |
| Language | Writes the entire briefing in any of 16 languages, from English and Spanish to Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Persian. | Any time — the AI keeps organisation names in their original language where helpful. |
Your choices are remembered in the browser. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and the dashboard restores the exact topic, depth and perspective you used last — your daily routine is always one click away.
Presets, Variations & History
Once you have generated a prompt, the dashboard gives you three time-savers: preset packs that build a whole configuration in one tap, one-click variations that reshape the prompt you already have, and an automatic history that remembers everything you have made. Together they turn the dashboard from a one-shot tool into a daily workstation.
Preset packs are pre-tuned recipes for common moments in your day. One tap sets the topic, time horizon, depth, format — and even the geographic focus — then immediately generates the matching prompt. They are the fastest way to use the dashboard.
| Preset pack | What it configures | Perfect for |
|---|---|---|
| Morning Politics Brief | Politics · last 24 hours · Quick Brief · Bullet Briefing | A coffee-minute catch-up before work. |
| Markets Open Brief | Stock Investment · last 24 hours · Quick Brief · Bullet Briefing | A pre-open scan of market-moving news. |
| AI Weekly Deep Dive | AI & Technology · past 7 days · Deep Dive · Structured Report | A considered weekend analysis of the AI world. |
| Middle East Daily Watch | Middle East · last 48 hours · Standard · MENA geographic focus | Regional developments and energy headlines. |
| Economy End-of-Day | Economy · last 24 hours · Standard · Executive Summary | Data, policy and market moves in five bullets. |
Variations appear just below your generated prompt, and each one rewrites a specific part of it instantly — no need to regenerate from scratch. They stack sensibly, apply to the current text, and flag the prompt with an EDITED badge so you always know when the text has drifted from the original.
Want to undo a variation? Just press Generate again — the dashboard rebuilds the original prompt from your current settings, and the badge disappears. Prefer to keep an edited version? Copy or download it before regenerating, or let history hold onto it automatically.
Every prompt you generate is saved to local history — up to 30 entries — with its topic, settings and word count. Tap the star to pin favourites to the top, press the reload icon to restore the prompt and its settings, or delete entries you no longer need. And if you read briefings at night, the moon icon switches the dashboard to a soft dark theme.
Getting Your Prompt Into Your AI
A finished prompt is only useful once it reaches your AI of choice, so the dashboard offers several exit routes. The big pink Copy button copies the prompt with its Markdown formatting intact — the best choice for chat AIs, which render Markdown headings and bullets beautifully. Next to it sits the Export menu with everything else you might need.
| Export option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Copy (main button) | The full prompt as Markdown, ready to paste into any chat AI. A "Copied to clipboard" toast confirms it worked. |
| Copy as Markdown | Identical to the main Copy button — a second way to reach the same action. |
| Copy as Plain Text | Strips all Markdown symbols (hashes, asterisks, backticks) into clean, readable text for emails, notes apps or tools that do not render Markdown. |
| Download .md | Saves the prompt as a Markdown file named Research_Prompt_[Topic]_[YYYY-MM-DD].md — for example Research_Prompt_AI_Technology_2026-10-17.md — so a date-ordered folder of prompts builds itself. |
| Download .txt | Same file idea, but as plain text — handy for attaching to systems that reject unknown file types. |
The prompt area has two tabs. Preview shows the prompt with colourful highlighting so you can scan its structure at a glance, while Edit opens it as a plain text area where you can rewrite any line — trim sections you do not need, add a house style note, or drop in context the AI would not know. Edits are included in every copy and download, and an EDITED badge reminds you the text is no longer stock. Two keyboard shortcuts make the loop even faster:
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl/⌘ + Enter | Generates the research prompt from anywhere on the page — no mouse needed. |
| Ctrl/⌘ + C | With the prompt area focused and nothing selected, copies the entire prompt. If you have selected part of the text, it copies just that selection. |
Prompt generation, history and preferences all live inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, no account is required, and clearing your browser's site data is the only way to erase the history — it is yours alone.
Tips for Better Briefings & FAQ
After your first few briefings, small habits start to pay off. These five tips come straight from daily use of the dashboard, and each one takes seconds to adopt. Master them and your morning briefing will feel like a personal newsroom.
"Semiconductor Supply Chain" produces sharper analysis than "Technology". The more precise your topic, the less your AI wastes words restating general background.
Following an election or a central-bank decision? Set Time Horizon to Custom and type "since the leadership debate" — the prompt will focus the AI on exactly the stretch of time that matters.
Generate one briefing with Balanced, then switch to Critical and generate again. Reading the two side by side exposes what the first answer left out.
The anti-hallucination instruction makes the AI flag uncertainty instead of inventing details — worth the extra citations every single time.
When history reloads a starred entry it restores the settings too — so a starred "AI Weekly Deep Dive" becomes your one-tap Sunday-morning routine.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| The Copy button did nothing | Some browsers block clipboard access on insecure pages. Use Export and Copy as Plain Text, or open the Edit tab, select the text manually and copy with Ctrl/⌘ + C. |
| Where did my history go? | History and preferences are stored per browser. Private/incognito windows discard them when closed, clearing site data removes them, and they do not sync between devices or browsers. |
| Why does Generate complain about a custom topic? | The User Define option needs a topic before it can build a prompt. Type anything up to 80 characters — the counter below the field shows your budget — and Generate unlocks immediately. |
| Does it work on my phone? | Yes. The layout re-stacks into a single column, the preset row scrolls sideways, and all buttons are touch-sized. It is a comfortable companion on the commute. |
| Can the dashboard write the briefing itself? | No — by design it crafts the request, and your AI writes the briefing. This keeps the dashboard tiny, instant and completely free of API keys or subscriptions. |
| Which AI should I paste into? | Whichever you already use. The prompt is plain text and works identically in ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Copilot and Gemini. |
The same dashboard, pocket-sized. On a phone the layout re-stacks into a single column, the preset packs scroll sideways, and every button is touch-sized — a comfortable companion on the commute.
Everything else works exactly as on desktop: generate, edit, copy, download and star your history. Your prompts stay private on the device you are holding.
