Existence, Time, and History

Abstract

A Formal Framework for the Ontological Interdependence of Existence, Time, and History

This brief conceptual study proposes a foundational model to analyze the causal and ontological relationships between Existence (  e  ), Time (  t  ), and Past/History (  P  ). By establishing a symbolic framework, the model posits that these three constructs exist in a mutually dependent state, where the absence of one necessitates the nullification of the others—formalized as   e=0 \implies t=\empty set, P=0  .

Conversely, when   e \neq 0  , the framework defines the Past as the intersectional manifestation of Existence and Time, represented set-theoretically as   (e \cap t) = P  . Furthermore, the study explores the recursive nature of temporal progression through the expression   e(e \cap t) = P_{n-1}  , suggesting a model where current existence acting upon historical intersection generates successive stages of temporal accumulation (  n  ). This framework provides a concise mathematical notation for understanding the structural emergence of history from the interplay of persistent existence and the passage of time.
